One of the best hotel stays I have had in Canada! Such a beautiful hotel. I was upgraded for free to the royal suite and thoroughly enjoyed myself as it was a “mums night off” night. Absolutely magical. Very comfortable bed 🛌 💛✨ will be back asap for a spa stay!!
My boyfriend and I live in Winnipeg and we decided to have a staycation over the holidays. We stayed one night, (Thursday) and it was my first time and I felt so excited upon arrival. Sadly, it wasn’t quite what I had expected. I thought with all the history, there would be more than just a few old paintings(by the front desk) nor did I expect to see a painting of a cow by the stairwell ~ seemed unfitting. The hotel only had entertainment on the weekend, which seemed odd considering it’s the Christmas holidays. It would have been nice to have a little something to enjoy in the evening. Our room was small, not very clean and quite warm. There was no fresh air or bathroom fan for good air circulation, very stuffy. No microwave or bar fridge, just basic tv(no option for movie channels), walls are paper thin(heard neighbours sexually charged night) for a while. Beds were soft and not very comfy. The best part was the luxury soaps and fabulous shower head. Food was just ok, portions were small. Sidewalks were not shovelled and it was messy. Definitely not worth the over $300 that was paid. Won’t be back unfortunately.
The room looked like it wasn’t cleaned. There was toothpaste on the wall above the sink and hair in many areas in the room including the bed. Room walls are paper thin so we can hear everything from the rooms around us and the people who go by in the halls. For the high price you pay this hotel is not worth it at all
I grew up in Winnipeg, so the Fort Garry Hotel was an iconic building, but I never stayed until now, many years later after coming back for a visit. The hotel is vintage, but the building has been updated. There are dining options on the main floor. The staff were professional and punctual. The room was clean, spacious, cool (summer heat outside), and overall comfortable. The location is good: you can walk to the Forks or to the Legislature. Not too far from the airport.
This is a beautiful hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We dined at the Oval Room twice during our stay and both times were wonderful experiences. The elevators at the hotel can be a bit slow and they are on the smaller side so if you're bringing a lot of luggage you may be packed in or need to take two trips if you're a bigger group. The entire hotel is super clean. The room was a good size - we booked 2 queen beds and we had 3 people and it did not feel cramped at all. We did have to ask for a fridge to be brought up since the rooms don't have them included.
