Top tier and very professional staff. Everytime we needed help or to request something it was taken care of instantly. The atmosphere was very calm and polished. The entire castle was very clean and stylish, as well as the rooms there. I personally love vintage decor and these rooms did not dissapoint. They looked like something straight out of a movie. I got a massage at the spa and it was wonderful. My masseuse was very good at customizing my massage to what i needed. The food the entire stay was also perfect everytime.
I had a wonderful time in Winnipeg, but I think there are some things potential guests should know before choosing this hotel, as The Fort Garry was the most disappointing part of our trip. The location, however, was excellent, the showers were quite luxurious, and the fitness area had a great kettlebell selection up to 24kg. 1) I pre-paid in full for five nights three weeks in advance, but after traveling half way across the country, was not permitted to check in until I could find someone to submit a credit card for a pre-authorization hold, as due to timing of payments, mine only had $105 credit at the time. I love being left in the lobby to beg after a full day of travel... especially after I had already paid in full. 2) You can hear everything in the rooms next to you, and the quality of your stay will heavily depend on who your neighbors happen to be. 3) What looks like a complimentary breakfast is 35 dollars. You want a bowl of raisin bran? $35. Dried out frittata sitting in a hot pan? $35. 4) Our bed wasn't particularly comfortable, and seemed to be dished toward the center. 5) When you checkout, you need a paper pass from the front desk in order to leave the parking area. That's right, they lock you in. Good luck.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Fort Garry Hotel. The rooms were unbelievably gorgeous—elegant, comfortable, and full of character. The rich history of the hotel truly makes it one of a kind and adds such a unique charm to the entire experience. Breakfast was phenomenal, with excellent quality and service. A special thank you to Eva P. for all the support and care she provided throughout our stay. Her attention to detail and kindness made our experience even more enjoyable. We can’t wait to return!
I stayed at the Fort Garry Hotel for about a month, and it remains one of my best hotel experiences. The historic building has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were consistently attentive throughout my stay. Afterward, I moved to the Residence Tower for a few more months, and the experience stayed just as positive — quiet, comfortable, and very convenient for long‑term living. The amenities here are excellent. The indoor pool and wellness facilities are a real highlight, especially during the winter months in Winnipeg. Indoor parking is easy and reliable, which makes a big difference when the weather turns cold. The location was also perfect for me — just a short walk to Union Station, which made getting to and from work incredibly convenient. Between the spa, the fitness centre, the location, and the overall sense of care from the team, the hotel became a place that genuinely felt like home during my time in the city. Our stay left very little to nothing desired, (except that we would have liked to stay longer😁)! It's a luxurious hotel with a 1900s vibe. The hotel is very clean! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Would love to stay again and would recommend! Perfect place for honeymoon or anniversary!
