Today was my first opportunity in the last 30 days to have something deep-fried. I opted for the fish and chips. When they arrived at the table, I have to admit the food was hot. You did have to be careful not to burn yourself. I like it when my food arrives and you have to wait for it to cool down to eat it. The french fries were delicious and I found the fish to be delicious as well. I’m not sure if it was me or if it was the way it was supposed to be there was a bit of a layer between the batter and the fish that seemed to be just a little bit undercooked. I would order it again just to be certain. There was two pieces of fish. I couldn’t eat both of them and I couldn’t eat all of the french fries. My work partner had the beef spring rolls and he said they were delicious. The waiter was very attentive.
This place pulled the best espresso shot I’ve had in a decade. Absolutely floored me. Great service from long-standing and experienced staff, welcoming to all sorts (brought my baby!), excellent wine list, get the spring rolls.
Consistently great food and service! Every time we have gone here for dinner (I think this was our fourth time), the food has been prepared beautifully, the flavours paired nicely, the service polite and attentive, and the portions and prices impressive. I can honestly say that some of my favorite dishes I have ever had in Winnipeg have been at The Blue Marble. The atmosphere is very nice and calm, and I enjoyed the choice of music playing over the speaker while we dined, so that's a bonus. I will be thinking of that dessert for a long time: Banana bread french toast with apple cinnamon ice cream...mmmm! We will definitely be back.
Was hungry at the airport of Winnipeg so we went to Blue Marble restaurant which is a 5 minute walk distance. Ordered their fried calamari with 2 drinks. The fried calamari portion was small and the salad was okay. The vinaigrette was not that tasty was a bit too sour for me. Service-wise it was perfect. Great atmosphere. There were no crowd.
My first visit at this restaurant and even though the food was pretty good I doubt I will be back. The airport location is a bit out of the way but the main deterrent for me was the complete lack of ambiance. The restaurant is right next to a fairly busy walkway and has windows all around. I felt pretty uncomfortable with people walking by and literally staring into my plate. Maybe tinting the windows might solve this problem? The restaurant had more of a cafeteria vibe rather than a higher scale restaurant. The food...nice presentation, pretty good but nothing that made me say wow. The serving staff were very nice even when they were dealing with a extremely drunk and belligerent customer who was disturbing everyone.
